Organizations We Love

We're so grateful for the generous donations we received throughout the whole process for Daniel's lung transplant. Now that we're able to start standing on our own two feet, we wanted to bring attention to some amazing organizations that played a part in our story.

The Lung Association

Since 1975, The Lung Association has focused on providing support for Manitobans struggling with lung disease. The Lung Association has a very personal connection for Daniel and Laura. Laura recently began working for them in January 2017 as their Tobacco Coordinator and both Daniel and Laura have become involved in the Lung Transplant Support Group that they offer.

Transplant Manitoba

Transplant Manitoba operates the five organ donation programs available to Manitobans, including the Lung Transplant Program and the Living Kidney Donor Program for kidney transplants. They also promote organ donation through their Sign Up for Life campaign.

One Match

One March is Canada's stem cell registry. It's through this organization that Daniel received his bone marrow transplant in 2013. It's a fairly simple process to become a registered donor, a few cheek swabs and you're in! They also need donors with interesting cultural backgrounds to register in order to help have a wide range of genetic matches.

Children's Wish Foundation

Daniel and his family went on a wish trip to Easter Island through the Children's Wish Foundation in 2007. For over 30 years, they have helped Canadian children with serious illnesses make positive memories that last a lifetime.

CancerCare Manitoba

For the last 9 years, Daniel has received excellent care from the dedicated doctors and nurses at CancerCare. They organized his bone marrow transplant and treatment. Their ward in Health Sciences was our favourite place to be if Daniel had to be in the hospital. Daniel also worked in their Cell Therapy lab for a year and a half, helping organize their computer systems in order for them to better organize and care for other bone marrow transplant recipients.
